We're not
we're Feldenkrais.
Sustainable Moves is an educational journey that taps into neuroplasticity—your brain’s power to adapt—helping you form healthier, more effective movement patterns. Through slow, intentional practice, we guide you beyond old habits, empowering you to build strength, resilience, and lasting well-being.
The Feldenkrais difference helps unlock
-
Unlike movement-based programmes like yoga or tai-chi, the Feldenkrais Method doesn’t focus on fixed poses or muscle manipulation. It instead utilises gentle, adaptive movements and enhances brain-body connections through neuroplasticity. It is a holistic method that integrates body, mind and psyche through an educational approach.
-
High-intensity exercise focuses on short-term physical gains, while the Feldenkrais Method offers a gentler, sustainable alternative. Through mindful movements, it improves body awareness, prevents injury, and enhances overall wellbeing by integrating physical conditioning with emotional resilience, cognitive function, and stress management.
-
Physical therapy rehabilitates specific injuries through targeted exercises and manual techniques, offering reactive care after injury. In contrast, the Feldenkrais Method takes a holistic, preventative approach, addressing inefficient movement patterns before they cause harm.
-
Traditional wellbeing services often operate reactively, addressing student crises such as stress, anxiety, and mental health issues after they have occurred. In contrast, the Feldenkrais Method shifts the focus to proactive care, giving individuals the autonomy to manage their wellbeing before challenges become crises.
“the simple movements seemed to override my muscular and mental habits and the whole experience was very freeing. by the end of the session i felt energised, grounded, and far more in touch with my body.”

You can find more information about the Feldenkrais Method® on the FKGUK official website. We are also always happy to answer your questions at anytime or walk you through a guided lesson so you can feel the benefits for yourself!
-
The Feldenkrais Method® was developed by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, a physicist, engineer, and judo master, in response to his own knee injury. He used his knowledge of neuroscience, biomechanics, psychology, and martial arts to create a method focused on non-habitual movements that improve brain-body connections and overall wellbeing.
-
Absolutely! Sustainable Moves is designed to be flexible and adaptable to individual needs. Whether addressing specific challenges or tailoring the approach to your goals, the programme can be customised to ensure it aligns with your unique situation.
-
During a Sustainable Moves workshop or class, participants engage in gentle, guided movements designed to enhance self-awareness and improve brain-body connections. The practitioner leads the group through various sequences that encourage exploration of different movement patterns, often while lying down, sitting, or standing. The focus is on moving with ease, noticing subtle changes in how the body feels, and gradually discovering more efficient, comfortable ways of moving. The goal is to promote overall wellbeing, reduce stress, and enhance physical and mental resilience.
-
Sustainable Moves is designed to be inclusive and accessible for individuals with disabilities. The programme's gentle, adaptable movements can be customized to suit different physical abilities, ensuring that everyone can participate and benefit from improved brain-body connections and overall wellbeing.
